Hi.

Welcome to Basically Soho. I document my adventures in travel, style, and food. Hope you have a nice stay!

36 Hour Guide: Burlington, VT

36 Hour Guide: Burlington, VT

I must say, Vermont is not technically on brand for Basically SoHo. I don’t ski or snowboard, and this post will NOT include any ski mountain recommendations. If that’s why you came to this post, I’d suggest looking elsewhere. (aka: “we only carry sizes 1, 3 and 5 - you could try Sears” - Mean Girls quote recognition, anyone?) - Hopefully you know by now that I like to recommend delicious restaurants, great cocktails, and the cutest hotels I can find. If that is what you’re after - you came to the right spot.

I do try to visit Burlington as much as I can because my first friend and forever best friend resides in this lovely place after leaving the big apple some years ago. Plans for a summer trip and summer VT post is in the works, but in the spirit of the winter wonderland getaway photos that are all over your insta feed - we leave you the below list of some favorite spots. Contributing editor MacKenzie Netcoh was critical to the development of this post and her participation is greatly appreciated.

Dining & Drinks:

Best Mexican: http://www.cortijovt.com/ - because it feels off brand for VT and so right. I loved the diner vibe in here, the big windows and the margs

Casual and Cute: http://americanflatbread.com/ - yummy pizza and Italian food, also bustling and busy atmosphere (seemed pretty kid friendly too)

Fancy Bistro: https://www.leunigsbistro.com/ - we went here for my birthday celebration and it was so cute, the food was amazing, great service, right in the center of town so you can bask in the snowfall and twinkling lights as you exit the restaurant in your wine induced coma

Hidden Gem: http://www.stpaulstgastrogrub.com/ - pop in for a beer and an app - cozy and very VT

Burlington LUXURY: https://www.henofthewood.com/ - there is a long wait if you don’t have a ressie, there is a separate cocktail/oyster/lounge area, it is farm to table, there are great vibes in here, it feels like a slice in NYC in VT

MacKenzie Recommendation: https://asinglepebble.com/ - we never went but she raves about it

Hotel:

Hotel Vermont: https://hotelvt.com/explore/ - their tagline is rustic & modern - we’re partial to a super modern hotel so this was our best option in Burlington and it was quite nice

So spend a weekend in this cute little spot and let us know your thoughts. We will be back this summer with some more outdoor drinking options & lake views for you all!

xoxo
